The Cancer Epidemiology and Surveillance core group performs cancer surveillance and cancer epidemiology supervision.
Cancer Surveillance
Provides diligent and reliable cancer statistics to guide policymaking and improve public awareness through the Danish Cancer Society, reports, and freely accessible online modules (e.g.,NORDCAN).
Identifies and monitor emerging trends in cancer incidence, survival, and other outcome measures including disparities in patient characteristics, diagnostic criteria, or clinical management.
Contributes to the field of surveillance research through scientific publications, conference participation, and collaborations across institutions and disciplines.
Cancer Epidemiology supervision
Supports research groups at the Danish Cancer Institute by helping with research proposals, research papers, and ad hoc questions on epidemiological research method.
Core facility leader: Jan Wohlfahrt
Jan Wohlfahrt has a MSc in statistics and a DMSc within cancer epidemiology. Has since 1994 worked within the field of epidemiology and started at the Danish Cancer Institute in 2023.
